Privacy Notice

Last updated: 5 August 2026

I measure how many people visit this site. I do it without cookies, without writing anything to your browser for tracking purposes, and that is why you never see a cookie consent box here. Below is exactly what happens.

1. Data controller

Emre Üçtepe — contact@emreuctepe.com

2. What is collected

Traffic is measured with GoatCounter. Each pageview records:

In addition, the server hosting this site keeps standard web server logs for every request: IP address, time, requested address, HTTP status code and user agent string.

3. What is not collected

4. What is stored in your browser

Not for tracking, but so the site works — and only as a result of your own action:

You can delete both from your browser settings; the site keeps working.

5. Why, and on what legal basis

The purpose is simple: to see how many people arrive, which pages get read and where visitors come from. This data is never sold and never used for advertising.

Legal basis: legitimate interests under GDPR Article 6(1)(f); for visitors in Türkiye, Article 5/2-f of Law No. 6698 (KVKK).

There is no consent banner, and that is a technical consequence rather than a choice: since nothing is stored on or read from your device for tracking, the consent requirement in Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive is not triggered.

6. Who it is shared with

Nothing is shared with, or sold to, anyone else.

7. Retention

Aggregate statistics in GoatCounter are kept indefinitely. These are daily and monthly totals, not records of individual visitors.

Server log retention follows the hosting provider's policy — typically a few weeks.

Emails you send me are kept as long as the correspondence requires.

8. External links

The site links to GitHub, Medium, YouTube and IMDb. Once you click through, those sites' own privacy policies apply and what happens there is outside my control.

There are no embedded videos, maps or social media widgets on this site — so unless you click, no request is made to those addresses.

9. Your rights

Under GDPR Articles 15-22 you have the right to access your personal data, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, and to object to processing. Article 11 of Law No. 6698 grants equivalent rights in Türkiye.

An honest note: because the data collected does not identify you — no persistent identifier is created and your IP address is not stored — I cannot technically locate and delete a record that is "yours". GDPR Article 11 addresses precisely this situation. I will still answer any question you have.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country, or with the Personal Data Protection Board in Türkiye.

10. Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top is updated.
